YOU ASKED FOR IT, YOU GOT IT!

Rather than thwarting crime, MPD is using its resources to concentrate on traffic enforcement over the holidays. I suggest everyone outfit their home with a security system, because when the inevitable rise in holiday burglaries comes about, MPD will be far too busy harassing motorists to do anything about it. A note to all the On Patrollers out there: Be careful what you ask for -- you just might get it.

"During the first week of the programs, officers issued 325 citations, 202 of which were for seat belt violations, Jauz said."

What about all those supposed speeders out there running people over? MPD issues 325 tickets, and two thirds are for seat belt violations? Gosh, I'm sure glad that MPD is out there working hard to save me from myself.

"The overtime was paid for by grants from the Click It or Ticket and Wave STEP programs."

In other words, paid for with your tax dollars. Government nannyism at its finest, funded by you whose freedoms it infringes.

"Officers also targeted the 400 and 500 blocks of Andrews Highway, which led to many of the 28 speeding citations issued, Lewis said."

What the...? So, out of 325 tickets, only 28 were for speeding. But I thought the streets of Midland were wrought with out-of-control motorists, causing injury and mayhem to such a degree that the media had to be called-in to help monitor it! Oh praise thee KWES for shedding such an important light on this horrible social problem in our fair city!

Geeez. I rest my case.
