MDC Financials Now Available
Actually, they were always available...but hardly advertised. Upon viewing them you will begin to see why.
From the City to Ms. Sparkman to ospurt to Site Admin....here are the MDC Financials for the time period Fiscal Year 2002 to August 2007.
Thanks to Bob McNaughton at the city, Stephanie Sparkman and everyone else in the chain.
UPDATE: It just occurred to me that ospurt was the Wellhead that actually secured the info so I have gone and stolen some thunder by posting the document. I will refrain from commenting and give him first shot. It is his "get".

In the time period covered.
MDC Payments to the City/Chamber or itself for Administrative or Marketing Costs = $4,899,613.
Total Incentives Paid Out over the same time period (minus Countrywide and W Power and Light's repayments): $1,892,000.
Ratio 2.6:1

Wow.

No problem on the financials. Comment all you want, I think they speak for themselves. I'm working on something else.
Have we learned who the incentee out on FM1788 is yet?

FINALLY - they come forward with financials after years of asking for it. Now I can see why they didn't want it widely publicized. Almost $5 million to administer the EDC! That is outrageous.

In all fairness, we here have never asked for the numbers and been turned down by anyone. We are just pointing out that they obviously not something the ED gurus want publicized or else they could be found on their own website.
Apparently, though, Ms. Sparkman had a different experience if she has been trying to wring these details out of the City/MDC for 3-1/2 years as she has said.

I also want to be fair. I've been trying to get these numbers from the CHAMBER for over 3 years. This is the first time I asked the City.
Actually, Mike Hatley (Chamber ED Director)suggested I contact the City (which I had already done) because he just didn't know where he could get the info. THAT'S what I've been most peeved about - that the Chamber, the entity that gets the most benefit from our sales tax dollars - can't even tell me how much they've received.

It is high time to defund the Economic Bribery Tax.
From these figures alone, it is painfully obvious that we are not getting any real bang for the buck.

Just so I get this straight: The head of the Chamber's department that earned the contract to handle economic development activities for the MDC didn't know where to get the figures on how much the MDC was paying his department?

Yeah Wals, you got it right.
Guvmint in action...gotta love it.

anyone with a link to the originals of that document (state comptroller, city of midland)?

The file was delivered to the Well via email as an Excel file. It was compiled by the City at the request of Ms. Sparkman and it was then forwarded to a contributor at the Well (me).
Get in line with your request for a link to the original source documentation (ie audits) at the aforementioned entity's website.

Concerned:
The whole point of this topic was that there was no link to this information to be found.
The only reason there is an online link now is because Stephanie Sparkman got these numbers and sent them to ospurt and then we made them available online.

nice to know the city makes such documents available... hrmmm... would be nicer if they say ... made them easily available.

Well at least we can know see that they didn't fund Rich Menchaca's retirement too.
