Put your Opinion to Use
Alright all you opinionated people. It seems the Midland-Odessa Metropolitan Planning Organization (MOTOR) has developed an online survey.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help the Midland-Odessa Metropolitan Planning Organization (MOTOR) better plan for the region's transportation future. The answers to this survey will help shape the MPO's long-range Metropolitan Transportation Plan, a document that will be used to guide the development of the region's transportation system over the next 25 years.Within this survey, you will be asked 20 questions that should take you no more than 15 minutes to complete. As an incentive to complete the survey, five lucky respondents will win a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart or Target. In order to be eligible to win, you must answer all the questions and enter your email address at the end of this survey.
Here's your chance to be included in one of those "Studies" that always seem to drive local decision making for decades.

I'm too confused to take the survey. Is the organization's acronym MOTOR or MPO? And if the former, how did they come up with that?
I'm not sure I trust an organization that can't handle its own acronym to design a regional transportation system.

Buried in their website their official Acronym is MOTOR-MPO which stands for:
M(idland)O(dessa)T(ransportation)OR(ganization) - M(etropolitian)P(lanning)O(rganization)
I would assume MOTOR is the parent organization and MPO is the sub-organization. Though, I do concur it is confusing, since they seem to use the acronyms without rhyme or reason all over the site.
They could have a name like JOHRTS

The largest personal gripe I have heard
about it that their uniforms are far to sexy.
The women I have talked to downtown ,( admittedly I do not get to the mall , as that would be a possible admission of "worldly ways") have stated candidly to me ( I was SHOCKED !) they liked not only the cut of the jib of the men..but of the WOMEN TOO !!!)
I am somewhat aghast that the city of Midland would outfit the innocent men and women of the bus company in amoral outfits such as those seen.. HERE...aw damn , don't work ..but use your imagination ! ................
But to derogate the moral fiber of an entire town town to sell a bus ticket or two !
This is Exactly why God made spicy rum !

I just took the survey..some questions ask you to allocate $100 among various transportation tasks..and do not give you the option of marking a "none of the above" box. Typical of an agency who is convinced of their own worthiness to assume that their priorities are shared by all. If you leave some questions unanswered, the survey will not let you continue. The result is going to be very slanted toward "spending priorities" and not truly a reflection of what an average citizen thinks of how money should be used in this area for transportation improvements. One is given, for instance, the choices of how to change service on EZ Rider, but never given the option of saying NO to EZ Rider itself.
