Life vs Death

The choice nine weeks from today is that stark.

"Let me tell you: If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That's why this election is so important," says the nurse-practitioner who narrates Obama's ad. "John McCain's out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose. That's what women need to understand. That's how high the stakes are."

Read the whole thing here. We are looking into the dark heart of the party of Death.

Understand what you are voting for in November and what you are voting against. 40 million abortions since Roe v. Wade is 40 million American children killed for convenience. It must stop.

Notice that this is all that matters to them. You don't have to be pro-life, or even have a qualified view of it, to realize this is idiocy. There are reasons to prefer McCain to the Chosen One, but the single overriding one is that McCain understands better than any else running that we are living in the most dangerous world that any of us alive has seen. Hitler was, after some shilly-shallying, seen to be the monster that he was. Same with Stalin. But we are in the death-grip of delusional people who think that the totalitarian, fascistic Islamists will make nice if you just hug them enough, and concede. And the only concession sufficient to them is your liberty to the totalitarian "freedom" [their word] of Islam.

All single-issue voters, pro-choice, victim rights, whether black, female, hispanic, or gay, are missing utterly the point: that these issues become nothing if the framework in which we may even debate them no longer exists and it is a fatuous and lethal vanity to suppose that we may be absorbed in our little idées fixes when the underlying structure of our freedom is being challenged and those who would defend it are mocked.

I stooped to read Amanda Marcotte's pandagon.net to get the radical feminist view of Palin's nomination, and the venom was palpable. I have never seen anyone beat their chest so hard and scream, "I am in total control of ME" in the realm of reproductive rights, support one who would place more controls upon her life in other avenues and malign one who exercised her own "choice".

I am not so naive to believe that if we outlawed abortion the practice would stop. However, creating a realm of privacy where Doctors and Patients cannot be criminally prosecuted for the procedure and pouring hundreds of millions of tax dollars annually into providing the service and promoting the practice are not equal.

Feminist radicals look at Palin and equate her stances on reproductive rights and family responsibility as a threat to Choice and Roe, while begrudgingly acknowledging continuing a pregnancy is a choice. However, Palin's family choices are cast as coerced values drilled into impressionable minds, or obedience to the patriarchy's rules which subordinate women as wombs for men's seed. In the Radical Feminists mind they must have choice and the other side must be coerced to pay for it to bring down the patriarchy's systematic subordination of women and the tolerance of misogynist views over the centuries.

It kind of reminds me of the Reparations argument.

The Constitution provides many rights for its Citizens such as a Free Press and Freedom of Religion. To protect these rights, mechanisms were created to prevent the government from infringing on these rights in both the realm of limits, and financial support. If abortion is a right, as radical feminists believe, then why must this right only be isolated from government infringement in the realm of limits?

Is it really so bad that Evangelicals would hope Palin would subscribe to the notion of the "Separation of Choice and State" which would reduce abortion funding and its promotion in government schools or is this really about money and power dressed up in women's reproductive rights?

I subscribe to the latter, and Sarah Palin isn't going to give them money and power, so she must be destroyed.

Wow. Two great comments, guys. Thanks! I think this is a/the critical point and issue and perhaps a tipping point for the radical libs. The Palin nomination is anathema for them.

The media is going insane in front of our eyes. They are now going after paternity tests on the Palin's Downs Syndrome baby (the one that a progressive, educated, responsible parent would have aborted, don't you know).

Life vs Death. That is it folks.
