LiveMidlandTexas.com goes live

Chances of a link swap? I would guess...um...zero.

Here is the link to the new site.

Update: This is interesting. Is the City of Midland planning to buy a parking garage in downtown Midland?

It is a nice clean design, but I can't believe they broke web design rule number one...NO MUSIC ON LOADING AND EASY TO FIND CONTROLS TO TURN IT OFF.

That and only a couple of hours into the launch and the webcam is down.

Imagine being asked over by the neighbors for dinner and immediately upon arrival you walk over to their stereo and turn it on.

That is "Music on Load."

If they can't afford to build a parking garage, then I guess they plan on buying one. Set the parking rates to those at the airport and you could make some serious coin.

Waht about the "pedestrian bridge to city core" I was not aware that the (new) First National Bank was officially the core of the city. They realize this is not 1980, no? Seems counter intuitive, if you want street traffic, why give people an alternative to the street?

The Sky Bridge benefits downtown pedestrians not at all. It is Midland. The weather here is good almost all of the time. And when it is not good no one comes downtown in any great numbers that doesn't work downtown.

Please note that the two buildings that would be the largest beneficiary of such a design share a common ownership.

I would hope that the taxpayers are not involved in this design at all. Maybe they are not....and if that is the case then I have no beef.

If I am understanding the architect sketch, the possible bridges connect the the 2 bank buildings and the Wilco garage, not the B of A garage. The Wilco building's garage is the only decent such structure downtown. It is a huge advantage for the tenants there. Selling it to the city...who's actually thinking about this? The B of A garage is closer to the courthouse and to the ex-Lorraine street "park" next to the Midland Center. Isn't there a vacant garage structure north of Ohio and west of Pecos? And another south of Missouri at Pecos? A puzzle...

So if you build sky-bridges (habitrails) doesn't that defeat the purpose of all that sidewalk space and street level retail/dining the remainder of the plan promotes?

Seems a bit schizophrenic to me.

Such is the power of a "Signature Structure."

I wouldn't put my name on it.

I think Blanks (FNB) and CNB currently lease parking in the Wilco Garage.

Do any members of the Chamber and Board have an interest in First National Bank 2.0?

See, Live Midland is already generating buzz about downtown.

Bob , The people happily toiling in the FNB 2.0 are assigned parking in the BoA parking lot on the east side of Colorado. (Which is the absolute greatest place in the world to park when you get jury duty.)

Travis Williams - I was there.. these are awesome and we knew it the momnet we took them. i was often looking over spencer's shoulder thinking hmmm, oooh WOW. that's pretty much how it went. Mary and Matt were awesome they seemed to have a lot of fun and Matt asked us to re-do alot of them something tells me he just wanted more reason to kiss! Spencer masterfully captured the images! I hope to be around for many more!
