Yes, they have a problem in Britain. I don't think you could or should get away with those kinds of signs while protesting on the streets here in America (or anywhere). Maybe toned back quite a bit (must be peaceful protest right??), but those are pretty serious. Serious enough that they should be reprimanded for trying to incite violence. But would it happen here to us?? It might to others, but my family has enough guns that they can come and try if they would like to. Dumb muslim, bringing a sword to a shotgun fight!!

On a slightly related slant, the best way to fight these people might be to use their own religion against them. They are so conservative in nature while protesting and rattling their sabres, but as with most christians, they are all sinners still. If people would take their video cameras and tape muslims around the world engaging in inappropriate behavior, their own mosques just might issue fatwas against it's own worshipping members.

If those Muslims in London were so tough and fearsome, they wouldn't have to engage in protest on the streets of a nation that doesn't even allow its citizens to legally possess firearms.

I must say, I agree with Stu Pidasso. If the Muslims want to come try to cut my head off, I welcome them to attempt it. The West is our turf, and the Geneva convention doesn't apply to citizen on citizen combat.

I utterly agree that using a gun might be a good idea, if you can. It sure would be fun. I have a S&W 1006. But these are people who attack innocent people who cannot fight back. 9/11, 7/7, Bali. Our only aid is their stupidity and unwillingness to put in the work.

The problem is that Islam is a totalitarian system, and they do not permit competition. Everything is thought to be accounted for in the Koran, and many Muslims do not think that there is any need for the modern world--and hence it offends them.

This tolerance of the enemy within our midst for the secular god of diversity is simply suicide. It is the vicious cousin of bilingual education, that "Press 1 for English." I am, and will be, the last person to suggest that the Mexicans are evil or that they have anything in common with the Muslims--they manifestly do not. But the idea of another culture within the major one means that there will not be an overriding loyalty to the American culture, which I prize above everything else.

This is, and bear with my logic, one of the reasons that I came out of the closet to the world, so that young gays would see someone living in West Texas among other people, so that they wouldn't go off and get kidnapped by extremists, or even lose contact with their roots. It's no accident that San Francisco is a haven to gays, as well as the (unrelated) factions of every single left-wing pressure group on earth.

People need to be part of a bigger polity, and have loyalty to it. If something happens which hurts the public, we ought to all rise as one.

And multiculturalism is not the answer.

Glad to hear that you feel that way, because their is a majority of christians that think you and anyone else who share your alternative lifestyle need to cease to exist in your present state of beliefs. They don't like your choice of lifestyle and wish you to emmigrate out of their "God fearing nation", you decadent abomination of God. For you are the "enemy" within their ranks.

Please, Theocritus, do not think for a minute that I actually subscribe to that train of thought. What you choose to do in the privacy of your own house, life and personal relationships is your business and not mine or anyone else's. Until you interfere with my children and the way I raise them to think for themselves, you are just another person to me.

This is what I love about America. Nobody has to give a damn about what anyone else prizes. And, pray tell, what exactly is the "American culture"?? Seems to me the white dogs of imperialism nearly wiped out most of the original American cultures in their own little genocide campaign, and are still trying to force their own culture on anyone different than themselves here in this country.

It may not be the answer, but it is the reality. We are the melting pot, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I am a pinche gringo, y yo hablo espanol muy bien. Mi ijos hablas espanol asi asi. And as much as it is in the best interest of new immigrants to learn enough english to get through a normal day here, it is in our best interest to learn the other languages being spoken around us these days. But no matter what the make up of the constituency here in the area, I will defend my home, my family, and mycountry to the best of my ability; especially when someone else is trying to tell me what to do.

I would like to assure any readers of this comment, that I speak just for myself and do not intentionally mean to offend any particular group or person. But if I did, get over it.

Actually, it will be the people who have the balls to try to defend themselves that will be the first to be on the chopping block. Those without the stones to stand up to intimidation are kept around as long as possible to be harnessed for use, and those would be useful idiots!!

This is another example of why American-style freedom is so hated by islamic extremists. Why do islamic extremists hate freedom? Because as long as people feel they have the ability, nay, freedom, to say or do what they want, or vote for who they want, then people don't feel cut off from their society. And extremists hate that because its that impotence that they feed on to convert more extremists. Its no surprise that nations with less freedom, less opportunity, less education, etc., are breeding grounds for this type of hatemongering.
How do we fight this threat? 2 ways. First, we work to foster those things that Islamic extremists hate, like freedom and opportunity. And second, we make it clear that institutions that openly preach such hate-mongering are forced to do so in the darkest, deepest hole they can find.
