The NFIB--another, er, progressive organization
Since I turned 50 I have been bombarded by solicitations, and the word is just, by the biggest socialist organization in America. I don't mean groups of left-wing lawyers or even the CPUSA. I mean the AARP. I of course send the envelope back with something in it which doesn't identify me, to cost them the postage and so they'll keep doing it so I can continue costing them the postage. I'm always amazed at how the wealthiest demographic is hell-bent on taking the poorest through social-security and Medicare taxes, not caring that their own grandchildren are being looted and that there won't be anything left for them. I have no grandchildren but friends do.
In 1993 when Hillary decided to grab one sixth of the economy by controlling health care (if buggy whips constituted a dollar's more expenditure, she'd have gone for that), the AARP was in with her up to their elbows. Along with them was the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, to which I belonged at the time. They asked for a renewal on the phone, and I read them the Riot Act. Enough people did so that they actually sent out a representative to Culo de Pecos to talk us into joining again. I, armed with facts, did not.
And so I was ripe for picking by the National Federation of Independent Business, who suddenly could define themselves as being the un U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

A couple of months ago I got a phone call from the NFIB soliciting, again a good word, a donation for an assault against a law, they told me, which would guarantee a laid-off worker 25% of his salary until he found a new job. Well, it was a socialist nightmare and I was in a hurry and so I gave them a bit.
What a fool I was.
Two days after the election of the Chosen One there was a commercial by Dividedwefail.org, which redirects to the AARP website. It has pictures of the Anointed One, and is nothing less than idolatrous. "President Obama, you're ready to lead and we're ready to help." He stands taller than anyone else, beams his (very) dazzling smile, and all the while there is this tocsin of "change" and "end the bickering" to solve the health-care and financial-security crisis. As we all know, bipartisan to a Democrat means Republicans do what they want without asking; partisan means that Republicans do what Democrats want after the Democrats shriek in the press that the Republicans are, well, not agreeing and then the Republicans roll over onto the backs, purring, their paws in the air, exposing their soft underbellies.
The commercial is here. Glutinous enough for you?
The commercial continued deftly on and ended with a wrinkled old grandmother sobbing on Barack Obama's chest while he smiled like the Savior of the World.
One of the sponsors was NFIB, who had obviously hit me for money with a lie.
Walsingham has suggested that we honor the office of the president by not referring to Obama by sobriquets like "The Chosen One" or "The Obamessiah." I do respect the office of the president, a great deal. More than any other office. But after that commercial I will continue much as before.
But I will make one compromise. I will not refer to Barack Hussein Obama as Dear Leader.

You say that in jest, but when Hillary had her eye on your health, I saw an interview with the Dutch minister of health who said frankly that their expectations weren't that high. I believe he said that if you're over 65 you don't get heart surgery.
Of course the nomenklatura will. But then get what? The engine of medical advances is America because of the profit involved.
When we achieve socialized medicine health care will stop except for politicized diseases. And then the contracts will go to people with connections instead of competence.

Yes, I rarely jest without intending some serious point to sink in as well. Perhaps destroying housing prices, the stock market values (think 401k), and socialized medicine are the Democrat's answer to the coming social security crunch? Keep the seniors from affording anything better than Obamacare, and deny them every possible life extending procedure, and soon you have the life expectancy back down right at 65. Then you have many less SS checks to print every month, and you can spend all that money on the Obama Youth Corps. Maybe get them spiffier uniforms with nice brown shirts.

"President for Life Barack Obama informs Helen Wurzelbacher that she has been randomly selected under the Social Security Reform Act as one of the first recipients of "the Final Payment". This bold new reform allows senior citizens to accept being euthanized as a personal sacrifice for the country in lieu of monetary payments. Since she is eligible for this service, she will not have to wait the usual 8 months for National Healthcare services to get around to her case. Helen is crying in gratitude since her terminal cancer would have left her in excruciating pain during the wait..."
