Up next: Government Fat Panels

There is a movement afoot to place a tax on soda and other sugary drinks and only a mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, Palin-loving, tea-partying Red-Stater would be stupid or hateful enough to think that this proposal is just another way for the government to take more of your money.

No, sirree! This about trying to reduce the high level of obesity in this country. So it is about compassion for the obese and this is a way to help them escape from their plight.

But lacking the nuance gene that all good progressives have I am still unclear on why skinny people who drink soda must pony up this tax. If it really isn't about the money, I mean.

So why don't we just tax obesity?

You know, set up a government "Fat Panel" that will determine whether you are or are not obese based upon your height, weight, age, activity level, etc., and if you are determined to be "obese" as per the government then you pay the tax on soda. And if you are not obese, you don't have to pay the tax.

That way the group that we are purportedly focusing all of our unbelievable compassion on are directly targeted by the tax that was instituted solely for their benefit.

Right?

I mean, if it's not about the money.

I think it's both. Of course they want to get their rookers on as much money as possible--the power you know--but also there is nothing as aphrodisiac to a leftists as just bossing people around.

hmmmmmm. We may be on to something here .

I believe locally we could follow this Federal thread and makasummoney ! Yas , yas .
(the sound of hands rubbing together..)

The downtown area received a LOT of money for their bright shiny new sidewalks.

Does it not seem rational that "fat" people cause more wear and tear to the concrete? Hmmmmmm ?!

When restaurants serve FOOD to "The Fat" are they not "enabling" further damages to Downtown Midland ! Hmmmmm?

Why should a thin person have to pay the same taxes as a "fat" person who OBVIOUSLY does MORE damage in "wear and tear" to Midland sidewalks and , yes , city streets ? (five fat people riding in a Honda ?..Shrine Circus?...)Hmmmmm?

We tax the "fat" and their enablers ( Iknowiknow, ..Who's to judge what fat is ? ANSW . I will , for a modest price, of course . I have lived here for 30 years and have no friends so I can be REEEEALLY objective.) .

The enablers can get their taxes back by charging the "Fat" more !

The "Fat" will have less money for food and thus become politicaly lean !

It's a win-win deal !

Specially when I'M in charge !

Very true! Makes a canghe to see someone spell it out like that. :)
