City Council announces $125 million dollar bond initiative
(AP) The Midland City Council has announced plans to put before the voters a $125 million dollar bond issue for the construction of the "Reality Bridge" that will almost certainly guarantee Midland's future. This follows on the heels of observations made by a consultant that, "Securing Midland's future and making it a better place can only be done if the city government is well organized and avoids pitfalls like factionalism and shortsightedness." To better leverage the effectiveness of the proposed Reality Bridge, the city council will move to use the power of eminent domain to aquire both the blighted areas of Factionalism and Shortsightedness and re-zone them to "Forward Thinking-1" and "Planned District-Visionary", respectively. Additional ground-breaking information provided by the newest round of consultancy includes:
The council is undecided as to the timing of when to put the issue before the voters but will almost certainly follow the proven method of guaging the will of the people by selecting a date on the calendar most likely to suppress voter turnout by anyone who isn't a member of the "Reality Bridge To Our Guaranteed Future" Steering Committee.

May I play too , and give a rebuttal from a competing "Consultant" desiring to feed from the Midland trough ?
The very nature of change is changing...
Unless it is observed , then the changing change will be different from the expected change , unless it is not. I refer to Schrodinger's Box as the example,so there .
Younger people text a lot.....
Younger people have smaller fingers and thusly are allowed easier access to tiny keyboards where Danger may lurk ! The tinier the keyboard the younger the texter ! Stopping tiny keyboards could save our children and bring thousands of jobs to Midland ! The City That Cares !
.. The world is different from what it was 10 years ago.....
In 10 years the world will be different from what it is now.....
Although technically possible given the previous two statements, it is highly unlikely that the world 10 years from now will be the same as it was 10 years ago............
Does the sun not rise in the east and set in the west? Do not most men and women love their children ? Who are you to say what is, and is not possible! With a monorail and moving sidewalks people will have more time to think of the morality of their lives and give peace a chance! Midland ! New sister-city to the U.N. ! Why can't we just get along ?
The very nature of the nature of change is indeterminate due to the changing nature of change. And nature......
I will form a study group and committee to insure that the nature of changing change is natural . This will naturally lead to more jobs in a non-artificial way .
The I-20 corridor isn't any prettier than it was 25 years ago when we were told it wasn't very pretty..........
Where are the workers who Built I-25 today ? GONE ! That's where ! Can you just imagine what downtown Midland would look like today if we had access to all that wasted money ! The City Of The Future !!! Adding insult to injury , the government will not pay for cleaning up the mess it made ! A Think-tank begs to be formed to trigger the means to force the government to pay the city AND COUNTY for the damage it has caused. Obviously , this will mean jobs for hundreds of broom pushers ! It's Win-Win all the way in The City of Tomorrow's Today !
Hey, here's an idea! Let's revitalize downtown!....
I concur , Mr. Competing Consultant , but I not only thought of it first ..but my ideas are better ! Nowhere in your plan is there ANY mention of spiffyneato Monorails or Moving Sidewalks ! Go back and sell your ideas to Abilene because you are dealing with Midland !! The City Where We Buy Everything Once ! Not Twice ! Usually !
It is better to be a crappy doctor who gets paid than a brilliant doctor with no friends......
Or a lousy teacher with tenure than a brilliant one with bad knees .
You can't pay too much for good consulting.....
In your defense Mr. Competing Consultant , a broken clock gets it right twice a day .
Actually Walser , I like the idea of a Midland "Reality Bridge" ! Remember the hoopla of the Midland-Odessa Friendship marker (Memorial) on 191. When was the last time you had a picnic out there ...or stopped the car to see your tax dollars at work .
A "Reality Bridge" ....I smell large money in this .
