"Midland" gets a boost from an Oscar Winner

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a TV Pilot called "Midland" that was in production at FOX. It seems the series has landed some serious star power, might we be the next incarnation of Dallas?

In his first regular TV series role, Jon Voight has signed on as a lead in Fox's drama pilot "Midland."

David Keith also landed co-starring role on the pilot, directed by Marc Webb.

"Midland," from 20th TV, centers on Bob (Jimmy Wolk), a con artist juggling two lives in two Texas cities with two women (Adrianne Palicki, Eloise Mumford), one of whom (Palicki), is the daughter of a Texas legend (Voight), described as a gravely voiced titan equally at home in boots or a three-piece suit.

Well, well, well ! This series might have some legs!
Voight and Keith ! Voight returning to West Texas brings him full circle ( Maybe the studio will hire Dustin Hoffman to be his go-fer "Texmexo") and Tumbleweed Smith can get a role as his spokesperson !

Question . Did the MDC put up money for Voight to sign on to this project ? If so it's the first thing they got right .

I just hope Voight decides to not play the "Texas Legend" like his role in "Anaconda" ( accent wise).

P.S. Mavbe Voight could get his daughter to play a part based on Modesta Williams !

I also heard that FOX is going to make an animated show called "Rooster Tails" based on Rooster McConaughey which will replace "King of the Hill".

Although I can't find anything on google yet

When you name your child "Miller Lite" you darn well know you're going to star in a cartoon series. I also wonder if the Mother-in -Law will be as hot as Martha?

"I also wonder if the Mother-in -Law will be as hot as Martha?"

No animation can do her justice.

I am terrible at making predictions (For the record, I thought the Colts were were stupid for taking Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf and I was sure that oil wouldn't go below $90 after the $157 high.) But, I just don't see the American public giving a damn about a show set in West Texas, in the Oil Bidness, with a polygamist family. They can't identify with it, don't care about it, etc. Most shows with staying power have something that the audience either can identify with or something that the audience wants to identify with. Maybe I am missing something, but this seems to be missing that.

One Word: "Dallas"
Another Word: "Giant"

I have no idea if this will work, I just think it is interesting.

Dammit, ospurt, you got me. Good point.

I suppose it will come down to the writing.
